Whether you see me or not
I've always been an atheist but Buddhism starts to make a lot more sense to me lately; not the whole part about God but its way of thinking. To me, the way in which it explains a person's relationship with the environment and himself makes it not a religion but more of... philosophy.
I came across this chinese poem about Buddhism. I'm not sure who wrote it but it touches me somehow. The english version is loosely translated by me based on my not-so-great chinese and superficial understanding of the poem.
你见,或者不见我
我就在那里
不悲不喜
I'm right there
Whether you see me or not;
No hint of sadness or joy
你念,或者不念我
情就在那里
不来不去
Feelings are right there
Whether you miss me or not;
They are not going anywhere
你爱,或者不爱我
爱就在那里
不增不减
Love is right there
Whether you love me or not;
it doesn't change
你跟,或者不跟我
我的手就在你手里
不舍不弃
My hands are in yours
Whether you follow me or not;
.... Never abandoning them.
